The Spinal Awareness Method

Chapter 5
Patrick did not write anything down. What follows is my understanding of Patrick's method, including all the movements necessary to unwind the habitual tensions of the body, and restore physical health.

The Spinal Awareness Method is made up of two parts: the movement system, and the touch sessions. When you work with both, they produce a healing effect way beyond their individual merits.

The Movement System
This is the bit where you get to work on yourself using a combination of movements from Patrick's trainings with Moshe, and his work with the White Crane Silat School. All movements are done with awareness of your breath, ideally: jaw relaxed, mouth slightly open, breathing in a continuos flow. If you find yourself holding your breath, simply relax your belly and breathe.

"Key to the understanding of the Spinal Awareness Method is the idea that our bodies have the innate ability to heal."
The movements themselves stimulate awareness of your muscles, your bones and your energy, leading to a gradual awakening of that deep part in all of us that knows how to heal. As you do the movements, have the intention to feel your body as deeply as possible.
